Overview

A role-playing game released by Nintendo for the Game Boy in 1996, developed by Game Freak and directed by Satoshi Tajiri. Players catch and train 151 Pokémon and can trade and battle via the Game Link Cable.

Gameplay overview

Players travel the Kanto region from an overhead view, catching and training Pokémon in turn-based battles, challenging eight Gym Leaders and the Elite Four, and working to complete the Pokédex.
